It is said that after Siddhartha announced his imminent death, he ate a poisoned meal, offered by the blacksmith. The blacksmith, while poisoning Siddhartha, gave him water from this pitcher. Drinking from this pitcher creates a mystical vacuum inside. When the person stops drinking, the soul gets sucked into the pitcher, where it remains until the magic is broken. As the magic in the pitcher is incredibly strong, having held for 2000 years, the pitcher earned the name "Siddhartha's Tears", because Siddhartha's soul is still trapped.
